Rising Stars Gala - Sunday 18th March 2012

Urgent - volunteers needed on door register rota

We urgently need more people to help with the door register rota at the swimming club on just one evening a month. The job simply involves ticking off
members on the attendance sheet at the start of each of the evening's sessions and filling in the total numbers at the bottom of the sheets.

This role is particularly suitable for a parent of a first session swimmer as the second session swimmers arrive in the 15 minutes at the end of the first session and by the time your child is showered/changed the job is done and you are free to go.

There are currently gaps on both the 3rd and 4th Tuesdays of the month. With Christmas and Easter breaks this means a commitment to attending about 10 times a year however, the role could be shared between two people. For current rota please go to Volunteers

Please note that all volunteers will need to undertake a CRB check.

Ilkley Pool Group has today published it's outline concept document for a new indoor pool and improvements to the existing lido at Ilkley following consultation with many interested parties including Ilkley Swimming Club. City of Leeds New Year B grade meet - Results

Congratulations to all those who took part in the City of Leeds New Year B grade meet at the Aquatics Centre in Leeds. We had a fantastic set of results with lots of personal bests. Particular mention must go to Sam Hilton (14) who won silver in the 50m Freestyle for his age group with an incredible time of 30.57 seconds. Sam also came 5^th in the 50m Butterfly (34.98 sec) and 6^th in the 100m Freestyle (1:09.70 sec). Eleanor Horn took bronze in the 15yrs and over 50m Breaststroke (43.65 sec) and bronze in the 15yrs and over 200m Individual Medley (3:04.50). Gala Schedule: Jan - June 2012

The gala schedule for the first half of 2012 is now available (see Galas and Results) Further details of each of these events will be given out nearer the time – via e-mail and on the notice board at the pool.

We take part in two local leagues – the Airedale & Wharfedale League which has events at Aireborough pool in Guiseley and the Bradford & District League which has events at Shipley pool. We also take part in the galas organised by Bradford Grassroots Swimming which is an organisation of the local swimming clubs in the Bradford area. Its galas are aimed at those swimmers who do not regularly compete at Open events and are perfect for most of our junior swimmers.

We are also considering whether to enter a handful of Open events – it would be great if you could give me your views on whether you/your child would like to do events of these type. Any queries please have a word with Jenna or me (Debbie – Frankie’s and Adam’s mother) or Michael Kennedy (Megan and Ellen’s father)

Wednesday 1 February - Venue Ilkley Rugby Club 6.30-8.30, a chance for you to meet The Coach and Committee. Ben Pollard (Head Coach) will explain to you the aims and objectives for the club during 2012 and beyond.

Tuesday 27 March - Ilkley Swimming Club Championships 6.30-9pm, more information to follow.

Please can all swimmers return cups that they won last year.

Kit List

We have had a queries recently on the kit swimmers should have so we have put together a suggested kit list with help from our coaches.

Most items, including the ISC hoodies and sweatshirts, are available at Dobson & Robinson in Ilkley. We are please do say that Dobson & Robinson have kindly offered ISC 2012 members a 10% discount off most sporting goods on production of their 2012 membership card.
