Membership

If you wish to join Ilkley Swimming Club please contact the relevant Waiting List Coodinator (see Contact Us ) in the first instance. Places in the club are limited according to the number of lanes/pool time we have. When places become available you will be invited to attend a trial session.

All swimmers (Juniors and Masters) are expected to have a certain level of swimming ability. For Juniors, broadly we expect new members to have finished all levels on the Bradford swimming teaching scheme (or equivalent) - as a guide to the standard expected for entry to the first session see Admission Criteria below. Masters (that is, over 24s) should be able to swim all strokes and be able to cover 2500-3000m in 1 hour.

We run sessions three times a week on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings. On each day there are two sessions; the first is aimed at our younger or more inexperienced swimmers and the second is for the older and stronger Junior swimmers and Masters. If successful you will told which group is appropriate. You may attend any or all of the three sessions a week (see Training Sessions 2011/12) and we do encourage members to try to come at least twice a week in order gain the most from the training offered.

Membership fees are payable annually in January or may be paid in four quarterly instalments. All members must become members of the Amateur Swimming Association (ASA) and the club fee covers national and regional ASA membership. This is necessary for swimmers to be covered by our insurance policy. All members are also expected to agree to abide by the Club Constitution and the Swimmers Code of Conduct (see Documents)
